SAG-AFTRA Voice Actor Home Studio Tour

Ever wondered what a home voice-over studio actually looks like—or what it takes to get that clean, professional sound from home? Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at mine.

I’m a SAG-AFTRA voice actor working out of my professional home voice-over studio, and it’s set up to deliver broadcast-quality audio whether I’m recording solo or working live with clients.

My Home Voice-Over Studio Setup

I record inside a WhisperRoom sound booth, which keeps things nice and quiet and helps me capture clean, high-quality audio. Having a treated recording space makes a huge difference, especially for professional voiceover work like commercials, animation, narration, and corporate projects.

For live sessions, I use Source-Connect along with a fast, reliable internet connection. This allows clients, producers, and directors to listen in and give feedback in real time—just like being in a traditional recording studio. It used to be $35 a month, but there is a version you can buy right out. And if you get the newest version update, you won’t have to map your port! That whole process would give me so much anxiety and take up so much time before a gig! Now it’s easy peasy!

Voice Over Equipment

Here’s the professional voice over gear I use in my home studio:

  • Sennheiser MKH 416 microphone – an industry-standard shotgun mic known for its clarity and presence

  • Rupert Neve Portico II Channel – high-end voice processing for warmth, depth, and polish

  • Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 audio interface – clean, dependable audio conversion

This setup allows me to deliver studio-quality voice over recordings from my home studio, ready for broadcast and professional use.
