A Year-End Review to Kick Off 2017!

Happy New Year!

2016 is gone--time to reflect! Taking a few days to review the past year is one of the best ways to set your stage for growth in 2017. It allows you to acknowledge where you’ve come from and gain a clearer outlook for the year ahead. I now look forward to doing this review each year! Here’s how to do one for yourself.

What did I do this year?

Don’t stare at a blank page, racking your brain for what you did or didn’t do. You may have forgotten some highlights, or overlooked moments that will be very meaningful to you now. Pick a few things from this list to help you gather records on your year.

  • Check your calendar
  • Skim your journal
  • Check your social media accounts
  • View photo collections
  • Even scroll through your bank statements

Take Time to Reflect on the Moments You Uncover

  • Jot down some highlights from the past year (Note: On this list could be accomplishments, books read, travels taken, habits kicked, etc.
  • Make a note of hard times too. It is important to acknowledge painful moments as well, such as the loss of a loved one or losing a job.

Ask Yourself Questions to Process Your Year

  • What went well or didn’t go so well?
  • What did I learn about myself this year?
  • How did I grow?
  • What made me feel great?

This process may take more than a sitting. A few days even. Once you have reflected on your year, you will be reminded of what you’re thankful for and you will likely have a clearer picture of what you wished had happened, which will give you a better idea of where you’d like to go. This clarity will help you set intentions and make a plan or vision board laying out what to focus on in 2017!

SPECIAL NOTE: We will be doing this type of review LIVE three times this month (January 2017), and you can participate by claiming your free trial of My BIG Year
